Maybelline Color Tattoo Review

Hello, hello! How has everyone been doing? I hope all is well. We’re into the last quarter of the year! With many festivities around the corner, I’m sure it’s gonna be a blast for everyone.

Many people across the globe has been raving about the Maybelline 24 hour color tattoo and so I’ve decided to join in the craze. So, here’s my take on the product:

Product & Packaging

Available in 8 colors in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Comes in a tub of 14oz/ 4grams of product. With the current length of my nails, it seems impossible to get the product out with a finger. Dislike products in tubs! So how do I deal with this problem? I use a disposable wooden spatula. You can always buy  small plastic  spatulas for tub products as such and reuse them since they are washable.

Permanent Taupe

Dries up pretty fast upon opening; I’ve only used it a few times. It’s creamy and easily blendable when newly opened. I find it easier to blend with fingers instead of a brush.  Pigmentation great as seen in the swatch below. I’d say quality is average to good.

(L) – (R) 1 layer, 2 layers

Swatch is not done with any base/ primer. I’d usually use gel/cream shadow as a base instead and top it of with a similar eyeshadow color for it to last longer. The color is buildable.

RM19.90! Awesome price tag right? The product is priced very reasonably. Most imported drugstore products are rather expensive (imo) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Because of the price, I almost purchased all the colors. But after much consideration, I decided not to buy coz’ most of the colors are not my daily wear colors. Wise choice! (pats own self for great willpower) Purchased mine from London which came up to be more expensive after conversion. Dang it!

Place of Purchase

Local Guardian Pharmacy/ Drugstores.

My Experience

Applied it at 9.30 am – 9.30pm; 12 hours. Surprisingly, it did not crease/ smudge on me. Do note that I did not apply any eyeshadow on top on the product; I wore it on its own to test the actual product. I have very oily lids and despite that, I came home looking normal.  I am not too sure about their 24 hour claim but 12 hours is good enough for me to be satisfied with the product.

Overall, I do like the product itself in terms of its pigmentation, blendability and staying power. I didn’t like that the product was packaged in a tub and that it starts to dry up quite fast upon opening of the product. I do wish that have more colors available. I’ve seen really nice colors available in other countries, so do check with your local drugstores or websites.

Have you tried this product yet? What are your thoughts and/or experience? Do share. Till then, Toodles!

  1. I own all of the Maybelline color Tattoos there are, and I LOVE them! They have some great colors. This one you reviewed here is one of my favorites. There are 15 colors here, in the USA, but I would recommend just getting as many as you can where you are. Just a tip. 😉 Great post! 😀
