REVIEW: Fresh Cosmetics Sugar Lip Polish

Have you seen this before?

What!? A scrub for lips? Yes, I am that way when it comes to skin care and cosmetics. All the products that I use must be specifically for an area. For example, a scrub for the lips or  a scrub for the va-jay-jay or even a nipple scrub! I guess I am just particular in that way. Other than cosmetics, I am one heck of a messy person and couldn’t-care-less-about-anything-else-but-makeup-girl. I have been on a hunt for a lip scrub and did see it on the Victoria’s Secret online store (Yes! They do international shipping if you need any makeup, lotions, fragrances) but it looks like it’s no longer available. What a bummer! I am in dire need of such product as I find my lips super dry that it has flakes of skin. Sometimes, I find my self nibbling on my lips to remove the flakes of skin and conveniently swallowing it. Gross! Right? I know. Apparently, I don’t drink enough H20!

Awesome lip scrub

And so, while I was looking like a mad woman at Sephora grabbing one Naked 2 palette for myself, spotted a beauty advisor (whom was so helpful btw) and randomly asked’ “Hey! Is there any lip scrub available here?”. That was when I was introduced to Fresh Cosmetics Sugar Lip Polish. I was jumping around like a kid who struck a “Hello Kitty” jackpot; silently in my imagination of course. Priced at RM65.00 [USD$20.30] for grams of goodness. At Fresh website, this product is priced at USD$22.50 which is almost the same price plus/minus the exchange rate.

The smell of the product is simply fabulous. Smells just like sweet vanilla, 0% sugar. It doesn’t taste sweet if a little happens to get into your mouth, that’s what I meant. Made out of real brown sugar crystal of fine grains. Yeah, I know, there’s a lot of videos out there that teaches you how to make your own home-made sugar scrub which is more affordable but… the question is… are your lips moisturized/ conditioned after that?

Close Up

It is really easy to use. I usually do this before brushing my teeth. I take a tiny wee bit of the product (smaller than any coin size in the world) and place it onto my lips and exfoliate in circular motions for about 1 to 2 minutes. Instructions say to exfoliate for 5 minutes but within 1 or 2 minutes, I feel that my lips flaky skin has been removed. Sometimes too much exfoliation can make the lips sore IMO. I rinse my lips with cool to lukewarm water and start brushing my teeth. After all that, seriously you will feel your lips like brand new again! I feel as if there is a layer of lip balm on my lips!

That's how little you need

I would usually do this twice a week. It helps with better application of lipsticks especially matte colors.Dried skin and matte lipstick is like a really bad equation. If you have been red/ dark-colored lipsticks that stained your lips, try using this product. It may help minimized the stain.

Quality:

Great! The granules did not cut into my skin at all.

Product:

The product is made without any parabens, sulphates,  synthetic dyes, petrochemicals, phthalates, GMOs and triclosan which are found to be harmful to the skin. Contains jojoba seed oil, grapeseed oil and shea butter that are known as great moisturizing agents in most cosmetics. It does it’s job of not only removing the flakes of skin but also leaving the skin moisturized and smooth. Perfect for a great application of lipstick. Made in USA.

Price:

A little goes a long way. 17 grams of goodness should last from 6 months to a year depending on the usage. I would say it is moderately priced.

Will i buy it again:

Yes!
