TUTORIAL: Valentine’s Day Look #1 (Day Look)

Helloooooo! Valentine’s Day is coming soon and what are your plans? Has anyone invited you on a date yet or have you and your other half planned your valentines day out already? I’ve created a simple look suitable for a day time date (or night if you like); incorporating pink & purple for that extra feminine look. You do wanna look as natural as possible so try to use products in moderation. I reckon most people irk at the sight of a female with very heavy makeup/ face looking too “cake-y”. All eyeshadows used are from the Sephora Color Popup Store Palette.

Step 1: EYES

Eyebrows – Use an angle liner brush to apply and fill in the brows. I used the brown eyeshadow from the palette as seen below. Matte dark brown shadows are usually appropriate for brow usage. I don’t usually use a brow pencil to fill in the brows as it does not look as natural compared to eyeshadows (IMO).

NYX HD primer – Start with priming your eyelids for the eye shadows to stay on and not crease. Apply from lid to eyebrow and lower lash line.

UD 24/7 Concealer, “NSA” – To conceal those dark circles

YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch – Apply under the eye to brighten up under the eye area.

NYX JEP, “Milk” – Apply all over lid and lower lash line. I usually do this additional step for any usage of vibrant colors. Just makes those colors pop!

Colors applied on the lid are marked with the heart shape symbol

Light Sparkly Pink – Apply on the inner half of the eyelid (Yes, it looks a lil purple-ish in the picture but trust me it’s a sparkly princess  pink color!)

Light Sparkly Purple – Apply on to the outer V area

Matte Purple – Apply onto the lower lash line and smudge out the black liner at the lash line

Perfect blending color!

Matte Light Brown – Apply onto the crease and blend away!

Frosty White – Apply onto the inner tear ducts and a little onto the lower lash line

Matte White & Light Brown – Dab your brush into both colors and apply onto the brow bone area

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil, “Zero” – Tightline and apply onto the lower lash line. Smudge it out with the matte purple color.

Maybelline Hyper Glossy Liquid Liner – Draw the liner according to your eye shape. I have a doed-eye liner just so I look as sweet as ever. *tee hee*

Step 2: FACE

**Optional: Prior to your any make up application (if you have time), put on a hydrating face mask for 10 mins or just apply moisturizer before any makeup application on the face.

NYX Pore Filler – Apply where necessary. However, most of the time it is applied onto the whole face.

UD 24/7 Concealer, “NSA” – To conceal blemishes on the face face and neck (if needed)

Revlon Colorstay Whipped Foundation, “Nude” – Apply all over face either with your fingers (if you’re comfy using your fingers) or a brush  (the germaphobic me usually uses the Sigma F80  brush). Yay! Review is ready for posting. Still deciding on the dates. Fickled me.

MAC Mineralized Skinfinish, “Natural” – Dust all over face to set the foundation.

MAC Limited Edition Prolong Wear, “Sun Dipped” – Contour nose.

MAC Limited Edition Wonderwoman, “Golden Lariat” – Highlight the nose and in between the brows. You can also apply the highlight just above the cheekbones for that subtle glow.

Step 3: CHEEKS

Benefit Hoola Bronzer – Apply onto the hollows of your cheeks and temples. This bronzer is just awesome. Please click here for my take on this product.

MAC Blush, “Love Cloud” – Apply onto the apples of your cheeks.

Step 4: LIPS

Kate Moss Collection Lasting Finish, “113″ – Apply all over lips accordingly.

Mixture of lipglosses from the palette as seen below:

Falsies – I used the accent falsies where you place it towards the end of the eye. If not mistaken, it’s the Ardell ones I used. The packaging is gone so yeah I’m not too sure what brand it is. You may opt to put on your usual falsies but I do recommend ones that are not very full on and long.

Brushes I Used:

Mostly Sigma brushes and a few from some of my shopping sprees in various countries. The list below is in random order of usage.

Step 6: HAIR

**Optional: This step is for those with medium to long hair. For short hair, try placing a flower clip at the side or you can wear a really awesome hairband.

Use a curling iron, the bigger the barrel for those nice bouncy curls.

Lucidol-L Designing Aqua Hair Curl Lotion Airy – Spray some heat protectant all over the hair

Curl hair in sections alternating the curls in and out

Lucidol-L Designing Pump Bouncy Curl – Apply onto the the curled hair and scrunch hair at the same time. I prefer this to a hair spray. I’m so in love with this product at the moment and I’ll share with you soon why.

Wear what suits your style. Most importantly, be yourself and be confident!

I hope you enjoyed the tutorial as much as I had fun doing this! My skin lately hasn’t been the best. I haven’t had the time to go for a facial and its somewhat looking dull with more blemishes than usual. Stay tune for my second look; a night time valentines day tutorial! Till then, Toodles!
