Hellllooo muh’ lovelies! I’m back with another tutorial. Yeah, I know I did say less is more. But heck, this is for those who’d like that classic romantic look with some drama. Red lips screams sexy.
Loving the matte red lips! Don’t cha?
Step 1: EYES:
Urban Decay Primer Potion – Apply all over lid including the eyebrow
Eyebrows – Use an angle liner brush to apply and fill in the brows. I used the brown eyeshadow from the palette as seen below.
Sephora Pret-a-Porter Palette. Click here for my review.
UD 24/7 Concealer, “NSA” – To conceal those dark circles
YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch – Apply under the eye to brighten up under the eye area
UD Naked Palette, “Half-Baked” – Apply all over lid
BH Cosmetics 120 Palette 3rd Edition, “Brown” – Apply onto crease
BH Cosmetics 120 Palette 3rd Edition, “Light Brown” – Apply a little above crease area and blend out the brown color
UD Naked 2 Palette, “Foxy” – Apply onto brow bone
BH Cosmetics 120 Palette 3rd Edition, “Shimmer Light Pink” – Apply onto inner tear duct and half of the front lower lash line
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil, “Zero” – Tightline and apply onto the lower lash line.
Stila Smudge Stick, “Damsel” – Apply onto lower lash line
Makeup Geek, “Corrupt” – Mix corrupt and the light brown color from the BH Cosmetics palette used earlier, smudge out the lower lash line
Step 2: FACE
NYX Pore Filler – Apply all over face
Revlon Colorstay Whipped Foundation, “Nude” – Apply all over face either with your fingers (that’s if you’re comfy using your fingers) or a brush. This time I tried a new flat kabuki brush supposedly quite comparable to Sigma’s F80 flat top kabuki brush. I’ll let you know what I think about it in a while after a few tutorials.
MAC Mineralized Skinfinish, “Natural” – Dust all over face to set the foundation.
MAC Limited Edition Prolong Wear, “Sun Dipped” – Contour nose and blend
MAC Limited Edition, “Flow Fantasy” – Apply the shimmery color onto the nose, in between the brows and just above the cheeks for that glow
Step 3: CHEEKS
MAC Limited Edition Prolong Wear, “Sun Dipped” – Contour cheeks, temples and below the jaw
MAC Cosmetics Limited Edition Mineralized Blush, ‘Giggly” – Apply onto the apples of the cheeks. You may use other brands of blushes, ones that are baby pink for that natural looking rosy cheeks
Step 4: LIPS
Revlon Colorstay Lipliner, “Red/Rouge” – Line your lips! Best to line your lips to give your lipstick a base for the color to last throughout your dinner
Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss, “#22” – Apply lipstick on top of the liner
Don’t be afraid to wear red lips. I used to fear red lips. The thought of having a color that emphasizes the thickness of my lips just makes me avoid the red lipstick area. But once I crossed over the bridge, I’ve learnt to embrace the lips and wear red at anytime of the day/month/year. I’ve been told thick lips are sexy alright! *giggles* No plumping products needed. Awesome!
Step 5: Optional
Put on some falsies if you wish. I used Red Cherry lashes #213. You may opt to use any natural eyelashes that you have.
Brushes I Used:
Mostly Sigma brushes and a few from some of my shopping sprees in various countries. The list below is in random order of usage.
- MAC 236
- Sigma Blending E25
- Sigma Small Angle E65
- Sigma Medium Angled Shading E70
- Unbranded smudge brush
- Color Cosmetics Flat Kabuki Brush
- Sigma Duo Fibre F50

Step 6: HAIR
Ahhhhhh, finally! A new hairstyle spotted. Gone with those curls, in with the sophisticated classic high bun. If you would like a tutorial on how I did this hair, please let me know in the comments section below.
Bat those lashes and rock that bun baybeh!
With flash. I’m sure some pictures will be taken throughout the night for memories. Be sure to do some test shots just so you know you’re gonna look gorgeous on pictures!
Before signing off, I would like to wish Happy Chinese New Year (known as the Lunar New Year) to all those celebrating this festive season around the world. Since I’m a Chinese Malaysian, I’ll be celebrating the festival with my family starting off with a reunion dinner (had way too much food!), more food throughout the week and a Valentine’s getaway. Also, happy holidays to those who are off on holidays. Stay tune for another Valentines post. Till then, Toodles!
